Match Report Round 3 Seniors: Gold Coast Waveriders vs Western Power

Game 24 of the Brisbane Premier League was a match between the Western Power and the Gold Coast Waveriders. Captain Harry McNeilly won the toss and chose to bowl.

Bowling first looked the wrong decision early in the Power’s innings as Jake Cross got his franchise off to a great start, scoring 39 runs from 34 balls. He was supported by his skipper, Harry Wood who hit 33 runs from 28 balls.

Bryn Llewellyn was brought to the crease with the dismissal of Lucky Peterson by Nikhil Chaudhary, who also featured in a run out. Llewellyn scored 28 runs off 26 balls to ensure the Power get to 5-136 from the Power’s 20 overs.

In their defence of 136, it was Bryn Llewellyn who starred again, opening the bowling to take 3 wickets for 16 runs from his 4 overs. Donal Whyte was also in fine form, as he has been all season, taking 3 wickets himself off 4 overs.

Nikhil Chaudhary stood up in the face of the Power, scoring 59 runs from 41 deliveries. But in this incredible run chase, it wasn’t enough. Despite cameos from Connor Carroll and Jarryd Blake, both scoring 18 a piece, the Gold Coast Waveriders fell agonisingly short of their target.

The Western Power won by 1 run. However, with results going their way, the Gold Coast Waveriders still booked their place in 4th spot for the inaugural Brisbane Premier League Finals.
